LIST OF OUR PROGRAMS

Research and Conservation Program

Palm Beach Dolphin Project

Prompted by rising concerns about the population and health status of whales and dolphins in Florida, we have made Palm Beach County, for the very first time, the focus of a long-term effort to assess the conservation status of these animals and associated ecosystems. For more information how you can specifically contribute to this program contact us at harzen@taras.org.

Critical Habitat Mapping

Our cutting-edge methodology enables us to illustrate the temporal and spatial relationships of natural resources, environmental conditions and human activities. For more information contact us at harzen@taras.org.

Ocean Stewardship Seminar Program

This unique program requires a vessel 60ft (plus) in power or sail as is operational platform, or access to such a boat on a temporary basis. Once launched, this program will generate significant revenues that will underpin the all programs of the Foundation. For more information, contact us at harzen@taras.org.

Outreach Programs

Dolphin Dialogues
We seek underwriters to support our weekly radio program dedicated to science, the environment and conservation. With $28,200 secured, we need an additional $28,200 to ensure production of the 46 programs per year.

Meet the Scientist Lecture Series
We need underwriters for this community program with a total annual contribution of $3,700.

Special Projects

Marine Mammal Stranding Network
Help us treat and rescue stranded whales and dolphins! The Taras Oceanographic Foundation is part of the Southeast U.S Marine Mammal Stranding Network and responsible for all stranding events in Palm Beach County. For more information on how you can specifically support this program, contact us at brunnick@taras.org.

Sea Shell Collection
Sponsor a travelling shell exhibit!
The Foundation has currently custody of an extensive and marvelous sea-shell collection that includes three to four thousand items. The shells were collected between the 1930s through 1960s, and many of them have been diligently catalogued. We intend to use these shells to create a travelling exhibit that can move from one school to another providing unique learning opportunities to children of all ages. For more information on how to help us make it happen, contact us at harzen@taras.org.
